This is a rare lawsuit-era SG copy from Aria, made in Japan.

Aria offered a couple of set neck SG copies starting in the late '70s, built in the renowned Matsumoku workshop in the style of a '61 SG. Starting in 1980, they offered this top of the line "D" variant, featuring a pair of factory installed double cream DiMarzio Super Distortions! Sadly Aria discontinued their Gibson copies in 1981, and so this model had a very short lived production period.

This guitar is in near all original condition with two exceptions, the bridge pickup has had one coil rewound by Mr Glyn, and two of the speed knobs are replacements. The neck pickup also has black marker residue. Overall, the condition is tidy for it's age and the playability is excellent. The weight comes in at a mere 2.8kg(6lb 3oz), with zero neck dive! The weight and feel of this guitar combined with the punchy tone from the vintage Super Distortions make this an incredibly fun instrument to play.
