Update! Due to unforeseen circumstances and a sale unable to be finalised, we are now able to offer this guitar with a significant discount. This is a one-off opportunity to purchase an incredible NZ master built acoustic guitar at a never to be repeated price.

Here we have a stunning Laurie Williams Tui, built in 2019, and in immaculate condition.

For over 30 years, Laurie Williams Guitars have been hand crafted one at a time in Laurie's workshop in Mangōnui, Aotearoa. Laurie has become well known for his experimentation with native timbers, exploring a fresh tonal palette unique from more traditional tonewoods.

The Tui model is designed for fingerstyle players, offering superb dynamic range and clarity. This particular example features a 25" scale, shortened from the standard 25.5" scale to give the guitar a slinky feeling without losing any volume. The soundboard and bracing is hand selected Waingarara Kauri, an incredibly resonant tonewood with great sustain and rich harmonics. The back and sides are Motuhake, the name given to a particularly special sinker Tanekaha tree believed to have been naturally felled before becoming beautifully preserved at the bottom of a river for over 400 years. Motuhake's unique grain and colour are extraordinary, with a rich hue much darker than mill-log sinker Tanekaha, and a beautiful tone to rival even the most sought after rosewoods. The body is paired with a Totara neck, a tight grained, yet lightweight wood, traditionally used by Māori to make waka; it has great stability and very similar tonal qualities to Honduran mahogany. The fingerboard and bridge are Ziricote, an exotic hard wood from central America with excellent responsiveness and a chocolatey appearance that compliments the Kauri soundboard beautifully.

Finishing touches include sinker Rimu binding, and an ancient (as in thousands of years old ancient) Kauri rosette with a matching headstock veneer.

The guitar is supplied with a custom Hoffee carbon fiber hard case.
