We are excited to announce the arrival of Furch guitars to New Zealand, after being appointed the exclusive retailer for this top of the line European built guitar brand.
Handcrafted in the Czech Republic, Furch is trending in a competitive field of high quality acoustic guitars, with artists such as Al Di Meola, Suzanne Vega, Glen Hansaard, and David Knopfler among their enthusiastic endorsers.
Innovative design, high quality tonewoods, and a stellar commitment to environmental sustainability has helped Furch build a great reputation in Europe & the US, gaining sales from the established brands in this price point.
Organized via a colour series coding system, these guitars start at the entry level Violet range and progressing upward through Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red series, with a broad choice of body styles and increasing levels in quality of tonewoods and appointments. There is also a Vintage Series for those looking for top tier alternative to a mid/high end traditional acoustic.
The soundboard is individually tuned on each guitar using Furch’s voicing process which enhances the guitar’s tonal properties to the highest level, giving the guitar a crystalline clear, harmonically rich, balanced and highly dynamic sound across the tonal spectrum.
An issue we see with many mid-high end guitars is the need for neck resets. Furch’s CNR Neck Design is something we are excited about as this system virtually guarantees a reset won’t ever be needed. A high precision, dual -action truss road maintains neck stability and allows for fine adjustment of the neck bilaterally. The truss rod is housed in a highly rigid carbon casing which enables a very smooth & controlled adjustment, ensuring the best playability and optimal setup. This really is a gamechanger – and to find out more, see the video at the bottom of this listing.
Finally, while Furch often ship from their factory with electronics and pickups installed, we have elected instead to offer pickups as an optional extra. One bit of feedback we often get is that people love their instrument, but have a favoured pickup system, often NOT the one included with their instrument. To give the maximum flexibility for your guitar, we can install any of the following from stock into your Furch: (additional cost apply for pickup but installation is free when the pickup is purchased from us).
- LR Baggs EAS-VTC / LR Baggs StagePro Element / LR Baggs Anthem (Not the cheaper SL Model) / LR Baggs StagePro Anthem
- K&K Pure Mini / K&K Ultrapure / K&K Trinity Pro
- Fishman Matrix Infinity / Fishman Matrix Infinity Blend
Or purchase acoustically and install whichever pickup you desire!
This guitar is Blue Dc-SW. To break this down, Blue is the series (with the different series being Red, Yellow, Green, Blue & Violet), Dc meaning the body shape – a Dreadnaught with cutaway, and finally ‘SW’ – these are the woods, Sitka Spruce & Black Walnut.
The Blue SW is available in D (Dreadnaught), G (Grand Auditorium) or OM (Orchestra Model) with or without cutaway, in 9 string, 12 string or Baritone models. Left-handed versions of these are also available at the same price as the right-handed model.
The body is finished in Furch’s own Open-Pore finish, that lets the natural sonic qualities of the wood come through, whilst providing excellent surface protection.
The beautiful amber colour of the cedar is complemented by the man-made tortoiseshell pickguard and body binding. The soundhole features a rosette featuring a double ring with a black Walnut inlay.
The guitar can be supplied with a extremely high quality Furch Gig Bag for an additional $100 (normally $199), or we have a range of hard shell cases available.
In line with Furch’s Environmental commitments, the carbon footprint of this guitar is 11.7kg (reduced from over 29kg).
