We are excited to announce the arrival of Furch guitars to New Zealand, after being appointed the exclusive retailer for this top of the line European built guitar brand.
Handcrafted in the Czech Republic, Furch is trending in a competitive field of high quality acoustic guitars, with artists such as Al Di Meola, Suzanne Vega, Glen Hansaard, and David Knopfler among their enthusiastic endorsers.
Innovative design, high quality tonewoods, and a stellar commitment to environmental sustainability has helped Furch build a great reputation in Europe & the US, gaining sales from the established brands in this price point.
Organized via a colour series coding system, these guitars start at the entry level Violet range and progressing upward through Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red series, with a broad choice of body styles and increasing levels in quality of tonewoods and appointments. There is also a Vintage Series for those looking for top tier alternative to a mid/high end traditional acoustic.
The soundboard is individually tuned on each guitar using Furch’s voicing process which enhances the guitar’s tonal properties to the highest level, giving the guitar a crystalline clear, harmonically rich, balanced and highly dynamic sound across the tonal spectrum.
An issue we see with many mid-high end guitars is the need for neck resets. Furch’s CNR Neck Design is something we are excited about as this system virtually guarantees a reset won’t ever be needed. A high precision, dual -action truss road maintains neck stability and allows for fine adjustment of the neck bilaterally. The truss rod is housed in a highly rigid carbon casing which enables a very smooth & controlled adjustment, ensuring the best playability and optimal setup. This really is a gamechanger – and to find out more, see the video at the bottom of this listing.
Finally, while Furch often ship from their factory with electronics and pickups installed, we have elected instead to offer pickups as an optional extra. One bit of feedback we often get is that people love their instrument, but have a favoured pickup system, often NOT the one included with their instrument. To give the maximum flexibility for your guitar, we can install any of the following from stock into your Furch: (additional cost apply for pickup but installation is free when the pickup is purchased from us).
- LR Baggs EAS-VTC / LR Baggs StagePro Element / LR Baggs Anthem (Not the cheaper SL Model) / LR Baggs StagePro Anthem
- K&K Pure Mini / K&K Ultrapure / K&K Trinity Pro
- Fishman Matrix Infinity / Fishman Matrix Infinity Blend
- Or purchase acoustically and install whichever pickup you desire!
This guitar is a Red Pure D-LR. To break this down, Red is the series (with the different series being Red, Yellow, Green, Blue & Violet), D meaning the body shape – a Dreadnought, and finally ‘LR’ – these are the woods, Alpine Spruce and Indian Rosewood.
The Red Pure LR is available in D (Dreadnaught), G (Grand Auditorium) or OM (Orchestra Model) with or without cutaway, in 9 string, 12 string or Baritone models. Left-handed versions of these are also available at the same price as the right-handed model. .
The body is finished in Furch’s own Full-Pore Satin finish, developed to enhance the resonance qualities of the wood. It is a ultrathin layer of highly resistant lacquer providing excellent protection for the guitar. The foundation coats are high-gloss, and then the final layer is applied with a matte finish, giving the guitar its beautiful slightly matte appearance.
The beautiful look of the guitar is underscored by body binding made from koa with redheart purfling, and a solid koa rosette. The bridge, fingerboard and headstock overlay are all made from exotic figured ziricote, which contrasts beautifully with the spruce soundboard. A transparent pickguard designed to have no effect on the tonal properties of the guitar protects the guitar, while allowing the natural beauty of the wood come through. White pearl linear side position markers combined with Furch’s rectangular koa inlays, improve fingerboard orientation and enhance the guitar’s beautiful appearance.
Hardware is courtesy of Gotoh 510 Silver Patina machine heads with Ebony buttons and the highly precise 1:21 ratio.
Finally, to protect this fantastic instrument, a high quality Hiscox case is supplied.
In line with Furch’s Environmental commitments, the carbon footprint of this guitar is 18.2kg (reduced from over 45kg).
