Lowden O-50 Winter Limited Edition

We were honoured to be chosen to receive this guitar - a true one off - this is one of only three O-50's built for this northern Winter Limited Edition - and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere! Once sold, another is unable to be ordered.

This Lowden Winter Limited Edition models features Sinker Rosewood back and sides paired with an Alpine Spruce top. What makes Sinker Rosewood so special? The clue is in the name. Many years ago – and well before large trucks became an option for transportation – felled logs were often floated down rivers to saw mills. Occasionally, a log would sink and remain at the bottom of the river bed for decades. In recent years, these logs are being located, recovered, and used in guitar-making. Having been deprived of oxygen underwater, these ‘Sinker’ tonewoods have not decayed and, once dried and cut, offer highly prized, resonant-rich alternatives to traditional tonewoods – perfect for a limited edition Lowden.

Limited to just 25 pieces worldwide across the four Lowden body shapes (O, F, S & WL), just 4 O series were made, one being a cutaway. This Winter Limited Edition guitars feature mahogany appointments (including logo, binding and bevel*), as well as a custom internal label hand-signed by George Lowden himself.

The top is solid Master Grade Alpine spruce with the back and sides rare Sinker Rosewood. The appointments include beautiful fiddleback mahogany binding and discreet but gorgeous abalone purfling. The standard profile neck is Church Pew Mahogany and Rosewood topped with an ebony fingerboard. Tuners are the classy Gotoh Gold 510, which strike just the right balance on this guitar. Finally, it's wrapped up in the high quality Lowden case and includes the limited edition certificate. 

This is a purely acoustic model, but we always carry Lowden spec LR Baggs Anthem pickups in stock and this can be added to the guitar.
