When the Shubb capo was first introduced about 40 years ago, guitarists throughout the world fell in love with it. They’re still in love with it today.
Shubb have given the design a few tweaks through the years, but its basic mechanical principle remains the same: a unique over-center locking mechanism that provides an unrivaled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place, and removes it just as quickly.
At a glance the Shubb C9b ukulele capo just looks like a brass Shubb C5 (banjo) capo, but it closes onto a smaller neck, and accommodates a slightly wider fretboard. Testing on many brands confirms this capo is a perfect fit on all tenors, sopranos, concerts, and baritone - except the occasional baritone with a very large neck. In these cases, the C5 is a good fit.
Many players find the Shubb L9 a better match in weight for their uke. If you prefer the feel of a brass capo over the lighter weight aluminum on your ukulele, then this is the capo for you! Either will work fine, it’s a matter of which feels better, or maybe even sounds better, to you.
